Blue 1’s topic this half term is ‘Community’. We have spent time discussing ways in which we can help our local community and local charities. We would like to raise some awareness and some money for ‘Hebburn Helps’. This is a Community Food Bank and Crisis Response Team are a Voluntary Community Organisation that was set up to help local families who are finding it hard and are struggling.
We have researched online, and spoken to Hebburn Helps, and they are currently running the following appeals,
- Chocolate amnesty – an old chocolate left from Christmas could be donated to make Easter treats
- Easter Egg appeal – any donated Easter Eggs will be given to children in the local community who live in South Tyneside and the surrounding areas.
- Most wanted food – they are running low on tinned custard, tinned fruit and tinned rice pudding and any other non-perishable food with a good sell by date.
- Unwanted gifts – any gifts that you have in your home that could be given to use as raffle and tombola prizes.
It would be great if you could donate anything from the list above, even just one item! Blue 1 will make sure these are collected and then taken to Hebburn Helps. If they could be in school by Friday 22nd March 2019 we would be grateful, as we intend to take them to Hebburn Helps the following week.
Also, as a class we are hoping to raise some money in school via the café and the school fayres, as well as ask staff for donations and support.
Thank-you for your help.
